Thursday 15th May
KING FAROOK
Show Only $10
Dinner & Show $45

King Farook are a five-piece maelstrom of fat funky beats, raw heavy rock, hip hop lyrical flows, hook-driven songs and smooth vocal harmonies that mixed together produce their uniquely epic sound that's been packing out venues and blowing away audiences all over their home town of Sydney.
3D World Magazine summed it up well when they said that King Farook deliver "a steaming hot pile of agit-funk-punk-hop, tight as a puckered butthole peppered with jazz-nut filth. The musicianship of this band really blew me away. Their lush soul-based chord sequences and sweet soul-singin' provided an excellent foil to their post-Rage Against the Machine riffery".
Having previously released an EP as The S.H.H.I.T (The Sydney Hip Hop Imperial Team), the band was renamed King Farook at the start of 2006. As well as wanting to do away with the offensiveness of the former name, the musical direction of the band had also moved away from what could comfortably be labelled hip hop. However, the new name still needed to capture the cheeky arrogance of a band that knew exactly what they were capable of and weren't shy about telling the world. So they looked to an old-time saying as the inspiration for the new name:
"Who do you think you are – King Farook?"

Friday 16th May
DIESEL (Solo & Select)
Show Only $33
Dinner $ Show $68

On the brink of releasing his 8th studio album in 2008, Diesel hits the road for a solo tour, as a warm up for an impending album tour with his band in the second quarter of 2008.
Known as a reluctant performer when it comes to talking about himself, this show has an added element.
A twist to his previously performed solo shows is that he will perform songs with electric guitar.
A further twistis that upon entry each patron will be given a list of over 40 songs (ranging from Johnny Diesel & The Injectors to today including songs from some of his favourite musicians) each audience member will select 3 songs. Diesel will then formulate his set list based on these choices for the evening.
On departure, the audience will be given the entire song list of choice with a personal note from Diesel.

Think John Butler meets Jamiroquai...
Fresh from the husky delta of the inner Sydney streets comes a band that unravels contemporary roots, funk, soul and blues, to create something deliciously sexy and new that you can't help but groove to.

Their infamously huge live show has secured industry attention, with one Australian "Cigar" legend describing Extended Family as "a cross between Sly and The Family Stone, and Frank Zappa".

And, Sydney ABC radio presenter & Sydney Morning Herald writer, Richard Glover also said recently "Australia has a great tradition of exuberant, crowd-thrilling bands, from Daddy Cool and Skyhooks, to Cat Empire and Machine Gun Fellatio. Extended Family is the next in line. It's more than a band, it's a cult - and I want to join."

Following their receipt of the national MusicOz Award 2006 for Best Blues Artist, Sydney-based roots/soul/funk commotion Extended Family toured nationally in 2007, launching their album "The Way Back To Feeling Alright" captivating audiences from Warracknabeal in rural Vic to Geraldton in WA.

The band has also enjoyed the rare pleasure of playing 6 sold-out headline shows at Sydney's premier venue, The Basement.

Their debut single "Rollercoaster", always a crowd favourite, is receiving airplay on Triple J, Qantas Inflight and many community stations across Australia, with the innovative film clip (made for $150) debuting on "Rage" in July 07. "Rollercoaster" was also selected for the 2007 Perisher Blue compilation CD.

The band has performed at the Great Southern Blues & Rockabilly Festival 07 at Narooma, Caloundra Music Festival 07, Bimbadgen Blues Festival 07 and Toyota Muster 07 in Gympie, The Great Escape 06, main stage Peats Ridge 06, Australian Blues Music Festival 07, Newtown and Surry Hills Festivals, amongst many others. Extended Family also debuted at the 2007/08 Woodford Folk Festival with four shows on 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st December - the highlight being the New Years Eve Countdown on the Blues Stage. With a swag of new songs ready to record for their next album (including the already crowd favourite 'Yesterday Morning'), look out for Extended Family coming to a town near you.
As one SMH reviewer said - "you'll dance; you'll dance like an idiot, and you'll love it!"

Friday 23rd May
STEPHEN CUMMINGS
Show Only $15
Dinner & Show $50

Stephen Cummings first achieved success in Australia as lead singer with The Sports, a pop band that had a number of hits in the late 70's including the classic "Who Listens to the Radio?". Never completely comfortable with the rigours of touring with a band, it was not surprising for him to embark on a solo career after their demise.

His first solo offering, the album Senso charted impressively due to the top 5 success of the single "Gymnasium".

Stephen has now released seventeen albums, consisting thirteen studio albums, two 'best of' compilations, a live disc and an album of acoustic re-workings of his songs. His fourth album, A New Kind of Blue, won an ARIA award for "best adult contemporary album" (1996's "Escapist" was also nominated in the same category) and his eighth album, Falling Swinger, was included in Australian Rolling Stone's list of "100 essential Australian albums.
